Why does the USB "only" connection sounds so much worse than the Optical connection with the A50s? Now the question is, which is also can't seem to answer. And I couldn’t tell a difference if that means anything." I don’t think so because the signal is all digital. Will the cheaper UAC1 DAC being usedas a bypass to higher end stack color the sound any? I have a SoundBlasterx G6 and i know it's UAC1 and has bypass, do you think the G6will alter the sound of the stack if i ran through it? Thanks again forthe tips!" įrom that thread (which also got me interested in this solution for Astros) Read this thread to see how even the "audiophiles" use this solution to power their high-end headphones for consoles. Btw with this setup you can switch to both outputs on the fly and you hear the difference immediately once you switch back to the Astro A50 USB for output. I use that same USB signal and the DAC feeds it into my optical DAC (the Schiit) and it produces high-res audio. I can attest to that because I have another device called a Schiit Hel 2 DAC that I use to power my hifi headphones with. But the actual audio signal that comes in is not low quality or low resolution. I see what you mean and I thought the same. Just set it up once and then turn auto switching off :-).įurther reading about the tech stuff and the sound quality: **Other notes:**In the PS5 Audio settings I'd recommend to turn off the "Switch Output Device Automatically" because this can switch your Voice/Mic input away from the A50s to the USB Dac sometimes.
